The gay epic: Achilles and Patroclus

It is not often that i find something as interesting as this. Many years ago I studied Latin and this fantastic story of gay love. This is one of the best versions of it I have ever seen.
If you dont know the story or have never heard of "Latin" as a language... you should watch this. The story is fantastic.. the artwork and production are some of the best I have ever seen.

This ancient poem says it all...

In a man's arms.

Only a man can truly please another man.
Only a man understands what a another man needs to be happy.
Only a man knows.
Only in another man's arms in his love can a man find...

paradise.

Women will take it all away.

Selfish women who speak an unknown language to a man, promise much and

take it all away.

What could a man see is such as you, O woman, even your name is a twisted mockery,

a poor imitation distorted

a curse

on the name of man.

Helen, Briseis, go! I will call a man's feelings, even that best, most beautiful of men, for you mere sport or a venal urge to power or possession.

I will not call it love.

For that is reserved for a man
and a man.

A Letter to the US Voters

I think this letter, that was sent to a Yahoo group I belong to, says alot about the way the US has been looked at and where we are going now...

Dear guys, dear Americans who voted Obama, thank you, thank you,
thank you!
Thank you for giving the world a marvelous sample of courage,
democracy and love; for getting us definitively rid of all those
disastrous bushes; for giving Western countries the chance to remodel
our view on the Empire and admire you; for offering through your
hopeful choice a new light to cop with the planet's hard and urgent
difficulties (I really think Obama will operate on new right basis on
the subject).
I'm writing from Italy (an unhappy country with popes and
berlusconis) and I envy you as well as I enjoy Obama's election for I
think he will change many things IN and OUT the USA.
I listened Barak's speech in Chicago (I was touched to tears) and all
of a sudden I went `ohmygowd!'… Paradoxically, Barak means in some
relative languages `Benedictus' as the current Catholic pope, Barak
looks more Christian though! Obama's point of view on humankind is
far more lovely and open minded than the pope's.
I've never been shopping gods on the planet's religions for I don't
need one. I need to KNOW not to believe and I know Obama is the right
choice and YOU made it. Thank you, guys!
Hector

Matthew Shephard 10 years later

As the ten year anniversary of the brutal attack and subsequent murder of Laramie, Wyoming's Matthew Shepard approaches - October 12, 2008 - Moisés Kaufman, the founder of the Tectonic Theatre Company which brought "The Laramie Project" to life, decided to return to this town of almost 30 thousand people in the southeast corner of Wyoming to see what, if anything, had changed. (After a brief stop at "The Fireside" on the night of October 7, 2008, Matthew was offered a ride by two men then taken to a fence post, tied up, pistol whipped and left to freeze to death in 18 degree weather. He entered a coma and died five days later. The two men, Russell Henderson and Aaron McKinney are both serving life in prison.) What Kaufman found was a town "exhausted" by these horrific events and the ability to cope with such a profound act and in with such continuity. "A lot of people in the community went through a sense of grief, in a very poignant, heartfelt, painful way, and I think eventually the pain became so great that they don’t want to think about it or hear about it,” says Rebecca Hilliker, a professor of theatre at the University of Wyoming. Kaufman plans to amend The Project to include his findings. I sure Matthew's family and friends would disagree with Ms. Hilliker's armchair analysis of the situation. Kaufman, who had presumably hoped to find a more enlightened Laramie, noted dolefully, "I guess what disappoints me isn’t so much Laramie, it’s the fact that more social progress hasn’t happened everywhere.” The full article can be read here.

Tampa Vs Hurricanes IV

Once again the powers that be took a major storm to another area of the gulf. Ike hits Texas today with a vengence. People were warned earlier in the week to evacuate the areas ... most did.... but alot didn't. I have to agree with one official that told some that wanted to 'ride it out' to take a marker and write their name and social security number on their arm ... to speed up identification of thier body. If you are stupid enough to try to stay with 20' waves coming in.. then dont complain or call 911 for help when things fall apart. For the rest of the people in the areas effected our prayers are with you.
For the gas companies that are gouging the public ... many states have laws against that. You should be required to provide free gas to eveyone in the areas you are stealing from.

09-11-01 Seven Years Later

It was about 8:40AM as I watched GMA...when the world changed. The whole world was soo different before. The economy was still good. There was no war. True the person at 1600 was the lowest rated resident there ... ever. There was more than 10,000 innocent people alive, that have been killed in the name of politics.
Seven years later, we still do not have answers to much of what happened ... or why. Was the attack totally arranged and put together by one man in a small country halfway around the world? Or was it part of a huge plot to make someone more popular? Or a combination of both? Why was that resident of 1600 hiding in Centeral Florida? Why did the "leader" of the free world run and hide in caves instead of standing up and taking charge. Why do the scenes of the tragedys still not fit what we are told happened? How does a plane totally disappear with out any wreckage? And bigger still why was that same plane seen later at another airport? Why did the US attack a country that was never involved in 9-11?
A lot of questions that will never be answered......
Where were you that tragic morning?
Leave a comment if you wish ..

Daddy's boys

It's about time I gave a bit of an update on my 3 boys.

Kyle was chosen to go for Jury duty this week ... and of course needed a new outfit for that LOL .. It always makes me proud when they are involved in civic dutys. He weathered Hanna well and is back to normal ... for him LOL. Kyle had the pleasure of a guest just befor Hanna... Tucker drove down for the weekend. They had a blast!

Eric and Jeremy went to a small cabin in the woods for a 'getaway weekend' ... Well the cabin turned out to be a castle in Canada! They both had a great time and well Eric can't brag so much about being a top anymore LOL

Tucker also made it thru Hanna with some flooding at his school and had the fun of going thru a tornado. His Precious Red Miata suffered some minor damage from some rocks that hit it. He is ok tho. He has been busy with school and working on the LTC site. He is soo well loved there.

All three are great guys and make me Very Proud that they have chosen to call me their daddy. Thanks Guys!

Tampa Vs Hurricanes III

Tampa again gets a blow job and a sprinkle .... Not that I am complaining mind you... Ike is headding west to Texas. The storm is sooo big that the outer edges are now begining to come into our area. People in Texas need to be ready for a big storm. I know they like things big but... there is a limit I hope.

Some things are Just Wrong

On a lighter side.. there are some things that just shouldn't exist... this is one ...

Politics 2008

I was not going to get into politics here but after last night's debacle from the RNC, I feel I need to at least express my feelings before they explode!

Last week, the nation saw a 'peoples convention' It was all up and positive from start to finish. No one was arrested on cam ... No one was slandered. The final night was open to anyone that wanted to get in. We saw a very large cross section of Americans celebrating being true Americans

Last night we saw the opposite. The most negative and down bunch of rich people of one color I have ever seen. Minority's were paraded in to praise their man and escorted out as fast. Last night alone 4 people were arrested on camera for expressing opinions. Apparently that is not legal in a republican controlled world.

I think it was interesting that the " leader" of the party was not mentioned and not in the hall the entire time. He was allowed a taped performance from a prepared speech. His parents and wife were there .. but he never showed his head.

The speeches, last night and the night before, were basically Democrat bashing, the only substance of either speech came from the text of Sen Obama's speech the week before.. only delivered with hatred instead of hope. Their comments tried to blame the Democrats for the economy failing and the money being spent on non essential BS. No blame was put on the current administration for ruining the country and any connections with the rest of the world. If History is correct... the current occupant of 1600 was given a balanced budget and actually a surplus, rather good relations with most countries and declining unemployment... exactly the opposite of conditions today. At times speeches turned into right wing christian prayer meetings, even tho many are not of that faith. The videos, shown during breaks comparing their team with Roosevelt, Lincoln and Reagan, reminded me of 1930's style propaganda from a country in Europe that was about to try to take over the world.

The thought of as many as 8 more years of the last 8 is very scary to me ......
I am not sure this pic is in any way real .. but the concept is.

Tampa Vs Hurricanes II

This is one of the sites I follow for info on hurricanes...Hanna is going to visit the Carolinas and north...the scary storm is IKE. Ike went from a TS to cat 4 in 6 hours. It has been going up and down in strength since .. Hopefully it will continue southwest. More info as I get it. The maps and info above update frequently.

Tampa Vs Hurricanes

As you can see the main parts of both storms are predicted to miss us... but if you are in New Orleans and reading this .. you are not too bright LOL you should already be gone! Gustov also seems to be headding west after making landfall.

Hanna on the other hand is wandering around and appears to eventually head up towards the carolinas. I have lots of friends in that area and they are paying close attention to this potential Hurricane.... as well as the entire east coast of Florida.

As if that werent enough there are several more storms brewing in the Atlantic that are heading in this general direction. This is all subject to change hourly as always ... Ike and Josephine are growing as I type this.
For the most recent updates check MyFoxTampabay.com/myfoxhurricane This is the site I use for the most current information.

2008 Olympics Oopsies

Now that the Olympics are over and we have been awed by the ceremonies and impressed with the tallent and turned on by the sexxy stars of the games... we can look at a few of the bloopers.
Here are some actual comments made by various people during the games....

1. Weightlifting commentator: 'This is Gregorieva from Bulgaria. I saw her snatch this morning during her warm up and it was amazing.'
2. Dressage commentator: 'This is really a lovely horse and I speak from personal experience since I once mounted her mother.'
3. Paul Hamm, Gymnast: 'I owe a lot to my parents, especially my mother and father.'
4. Boxing Analyst: 'Sure there have been injuries, and even some deaths in boxing, but none of them really that serious.'
5. Softball announcer: 'If history repeats itself, I should think we can expect the same thing again.'
6. Basketball analyst: 'He dribbles a lot and the opposition doesn't like it. In fact you can see it all> over their faces.'
7. At the rowing medal ceremony: 'Ah, isn't that nice, the wife of the IOC president is hugging the cox of the British crew.'
8. Soccer commentator: 'Julian Dicks is everywhere. It's like they've got eleven Dicks on the field.'
9. Tennis commentator: 'One of the reasons Andy is playing so well is that, before the final round, his wife takes out his balls and kisses them... Oh my God, what have I just said?'

Fay Fay go away!!

Well we have had the presence of Ms Fay for way too long now. She like other things has over stayed her welcome. It is time for her to move on. After having closed my store for a day and then not getting even a sprinkle or breeze but just dull crappy weather. Not that I want bad weather but move on biotch! Some areas have over 24" of rain already and you just sit and spin.... Humm but that reminds me of something else LOL.... Now it looks as if she has changed her mind and is comming back this way... GO AWAY!

Fay approches

Well it is that time of year ... again ... Hurricane season. We have Fay on the way! I will post and have any pics that I can get as soon as I can .. as of the latest update the storm should pass Tampa to the east by about 20 miles. The further east the better, since all of the rain is on the eastern side of the storm.
If you want to keep up with the situation check the link to our local news station

Not to embarress him more.. but he is also very intelligent. He is now part of the LTC family as well as part of mine. For more about him either come visit him at LTC or check his blog out .. it is linked in the title.

My Favorite Olympic Pics

These are some of my favorite pics from the olympics so far. The top one has an interesting story ... Apparently at the exact same time as Michael Phelps was presented his first Gold medal .... Lightning struck the Acropolis in Greece. As far as I am concerned there is nothing sexxier than a gymnast at work .. and Sasha is one of the best!
